New Beginnings April 5, 2012 by Chris LeBrun

Today is a new day.  A brand new start.  Another chance to set wrongs right, to be victorious, to stand over your enemy on the field of battle with his severed head in your hands….

Sorry!  I didn’t mean to go from Deepak Chopra to Genghis Kahn there!  I apologize!

What I meant to say is today is Opening Day for 14 Major League Baseball teams, including the Boston Red Sox who visit the Detroit Tigers today as Jon Lester goes up against Detroit’s Justin Verlander.

For Red Sox Nation, every year is filled with optimism and hope.  Then you have to talk yourself off the ledge after starting the season off 2 – 10 like last year.  And there are just no words when you blow a 9-game lead in September to going 7-20 in the last month of the regular season and miss the playoffs.

But with spring training comes A New Hope that once again this year, as in 2004 and 2007, we will use The Force and defeat dark side and the Evil Empire to stand victorious at the end of the season.

And if not, there’s always next year!
