My Academy Award Predictions March 2, 2014 by Chris LeBrun

theoscarsAs a broadcasting major it was almost required to watch as many of the films nominated for major Academy Awards.  But college was a marriage, two kids, and more years than I care to remember ago.  These days, I’m doing good to watch all the films nominated in the Animated category.

This year, however, working in Maryland while my family is back in Florida has improved my ability to watch nominated films.  Catching the flu and being stuck in bed for a week further assisted in helping me get through all the  Academy Award nominations.

Not that being informed will help with the picks this year!  There is some tough competition, especially in the Best Actor/Actress categories.

For the record, these are my Academy Award predictions, not necessarily what I would pick if I was a member of the Academy! (Hey, it could happen!)  Without further adeu, here are my picks.

Best Picture: 12 Years A Slave
Best Actor: Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club)
Best Actress: Sandra Bullock (Gravity)
Best Supporting Actor: Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club)
Best Supporting Actress: Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years A Slave)
Best Director: Martin Scorsese (The Wolf Of Wall Street)
Best Adapted Screenplay: 12 Years A Slave
Best Original Screenplay: American Hustle
